The City's series of reports on the 1990 Census of Population and Housing consists of the five reports listed below.
Report #1: Population by Race and Latino Origin for Census Tracts, Community Areas and Wards: 1980, 1990.
May, 1993. Price: $6.00
Report #1 is the only report in the series presenting data for census tracts and showing data for both
1980 and 1990. It has counts for the four major racial groups and for Latinos. The report also includes
shaded maps showing the spatial distribution of the racial and Latino groups.
Report #2: Social and Economic Characteristics of Chicago's Population: Community Area Profiles.
December 1992. Price: $10.00
At the title indicates, Report #2 describes the social and economic characteristics of the population of
the community areas. It presents sample counts based on the responses to the long census
questionnaire sent to a sample of all households. Major subjects include income, education, ancestry,
citizenship, disability status, labor force, and 1985 residence. This report also includes selected housing
characteristics like condominium status, vintage, and presence and dollar amount of mortgages.
Report #3: Demographic Characteristics of Chicago's Population: Community Area Profiles. March, 1994.
Price: $10.00
Report #3 describes the population of Chicago's community areas. It present 100% counts based on
the person-related questions of the short census questionnaire sent to all households. Included are
racial composition, age distributions, and household and famiily relationships.
Report #4: Housing Characteristics of Chicago's Households: Community Area Profiles. April, 1994
Price: $10.00
Report #4 describes the housing characteristics of Chicago's community areas. It presents 100% counts
based on the housing-related questions of the short census questionnaire sent to all households. This
report includes tables with home values, rents, and the number of owners and renters among racial and
Latino groups and senior citizens. Housing units are classied according to building size, unit size, and
number of occupants. Vacant units are also described with some detail.
Report #5: Demographic and Housing Characteristics of Chicago and Rogers Park. This
report is available for each of the 77 community areas. (Forthcoming) Price: $3.50
Report #5 differs from all other reports, It is actually a series of 77 reports, each one presenting data
for one community area. The data are a compilation of those presented in the three preceding reports.
