NSDI CAGIS NIPC

Chicago Region Clearinghouse Cooperative

Welcome to the Chicago Region Clearinghouse Cooperative -- a new multi-organizational spatial data Clearinghouse for the greater Chicago Region (including participants from Northwest Indiana). This Node is being developed as part of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) through an award from the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) to the Northeastern Illinois Planning Commission (NIPC) and the Chicago Area Geographic Information Study (CAGIS) at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

The Clearinghouse Node is brand new. See the proposal to the FGDC that initially funded this effort. So far, we have conducted two workshops, on March 17th and 20th, 1998 to train participants in the use of the FGDC's Content Standards for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). The workshops were well received, and in exchange for workshop instruction, participant organizations have committed to contributing metadata records to this Node. We acknowledge with great appreciation their willingness to participate and their contributions. Those participant organizations are:

Metadata from NIPC and CAGIS are also on the site. In fact the first six metadata files from NIPC are complete and were used to test the Node.
