CAGIS is a reliable and economical source of information and data processing services for the greater Chicagoland area and all of Illinois. A local organization, proficient in meeting local information needs for small area data, CAGIS represents a unique link between public sources of information, research facilities at a major university and you, the information user.
Through working agreements with the U.S. Bureau of the Census, the Illinois State Data Center Cooperative, agencies of State and local government and major corporations, CAGIS has created a service network which is available to meet the informational needs of both public- and private-sector organizations. For users who desire to do their own processing, CAGIS will reproduce Census computer tapes and provide assistance with their use.
Located within the University of Illinois at Chicago, CAGIS was established by the Chicago Association of Commerce and Industry, Northeastern Illinois Planning Commission, and the University of Illinois at Chicago in order to provide access to research facilities that are dedicated to the enhancement of the social and economic development of the greater Chicagoland area and the State of Illinois. The people of CAGIS provide the talent and expertise needed to link informational resources to the solution of information problems.
CAGIS can provide expert assistance to you in the same way we have helped others--financial institutions, health care facilities, retailers, real estate developers and governmental agencies,--meet their needs for small area data. A service offered by CAGIS which is frequently utilized is the restructuring of client records into small-area aggregrates for further description and analysis. All such activities with user data are under-taken with strict security precautions and high regard for user proprietary interests.
