Fall Meeting Wednesday September 25, 1996 from 9 A.M. to Noon

Please come join us as we meet with members of the U.S. Census Bureau on September 25, from 9:00 AM till noon. We will be meeting with two different sections of the Census Bureau and plan to cover a wide number of topics, so plan on attending.

We will first meet with the Geography staff, discuss their current and future products, talk avout updates, and find out more about the 2000 Census.

We will also meet with Information Services staff to learn more about their products, other information they disseminate, their data library, and have a hands on tour of the Internet.

Special Program Thursday, September 12, 1996 from 12:30 to 5 P.M.

USING TECHNOLOGY TO MANAGE RESOURCES MORE EFFICIENTLY AND EFFECTIVELY based on a University of Wisconsin Cooperative Extension video production of the live satellite program, Land Information Systems for Local Government; Issues and Interfaces; with a panel of experts to answer questions and discuss the issues.

Presented by: Great Lakes Chapter, Urban and Regional Information Systems Association and a panel of experts in the field of state of the art information technology including GIS.

Where: Room 150, Animal Science Lab, The Campus of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign; see maps for parking, shuttle and program location.

When: Thursday, September 12, 1996 from 12:30 to 5 P.M.

What: Introduces the layman to what land and geographic information systems are, how they are developed, the application of state of the art technology to the process, understanding management applications, and evaluating the results. Opportunities for questions and answers are included.

Who should attend: Public officials, especially elected officials and decision makers, agricultural and natural resources managers, land information systems managers, urban growth managers and planners, "911" emergency response services planners, managers of land records, assessors, surveyors; both public and private managers of utility services and maintenance of infrastructure including engineers and those concerned with flood plain and flood insurance management.

Registration: Forward $25 with the attached completed form postmarked no later than August 30, 1996. A Program notebook of presentation materials will be provided on site.
